"Life is Weird."
and other realizations I have realized
The last prompt of my writing group was my own.
“Write four original quotes or aphorisms.”
It’s shockingly harder to think/write quote-worthy thoughts when you need and want to feel wise. The brain easily reverts to regurgitating quotes you’ve imbibed before, and wants you to think you thought of them. But as there is no new thing under the sun, our thoughts usually do spring off things other people have also thought of. Which is OK! Sometimes the same idea hits home when worded a certain way that resonates. So I’ll share my four, plus a few more.
I.
I’ve never been handed something that didn’t make my life better. My newborn child, a cold Diet Coke, a birthday present, a challenge, a trial. Take what life gives you with open hands.
II.
Wednesday feels like an even number.
III.
Cake it ‘til you make it. Life is “layered” with complexity, so you might as well look for or add sweetness along the way.
IV.
What you are attracted to is often what you later grow weary of.
V.
Resting because you chose to rest revives you in a different way than resting guiltily does.
(OR)
Resting because you chose to rest revives you; resting guiltily makes you even more tired.
VI.
Productivity should not be idolized, but it should be given due diligence.
VII.
Life is weird.
The last one, which is the title of this post, came to me today during Book Club. Sometimes there are no words to make life make sense or to feel fair.
Life really is just weird. Unexplainable. Unmistakeable. But still beautiful.

Love the "cake it till you make it" since cake makes everything better. ☺️
Spot on! I love it!🙌
